Female Suspect Escapes Law Enforcement Following High-Velocity Chase from California into Mexico
A female individual previously residing at a women’s sobriety home in California allegedly took a stolen van and led a hours-long law enforcement pursuit ending with her traveling across the border into Mexico on the start of the week.
Auto Theft Discovered from Recovery Residence
As stated in a police announcement, a second woman, the owner of the vehicle, forty-five years old, notified authorities that her gray minivan from 2004 was stolen, along with her car key. The owner, who manages two women’s sober living homes, named the suspect as one of the residents at Diana’s House Sober Living, located approximately 60 minutes north-west of LA.
“My keys were stolen from my manager’s handbag. I arrived just as it was occurring,” Walters stated, adding that the minivan is designated for the facility’s daily operations.
High-Speed Pursuit Unfolds Across Several Regions
Authorities located the van about 19 kilometers to the north in Simi Valley, where they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect did not comply and sped away. She reached speeds of about 90mph on the 118 freeway until the pursuit proceeded into LA County. At that point, Ventura county authorities transferred the operation to the CHP once the driver entered the Interstate 405 heading south.
“This one is particularly unusual in the sense of the road situation enabling drivers to persist on the highway and extend this pursuit,” said a public information officer from the local law enforcement agency.
Wilson reportedly dodged all the tire-deflation devices tossed on the road by police, as documented in aerial videos.
Cross-Border Escape and Aftermath Developments
The chase finally arrived at the US-Mexico border by 1.30pm, leading to the highway patrol to terminate the chase due to jurisdictional constraints.
Walters stated on Tuesday that the minivan was located in the Mexican city of Tijuana and that she was working with the authorities to retrieve it.
“At the end of the day, I’m not concerned with the vehicle,” Walters remarked. “I’m relieved knowing she was not injured. The car is easily substituted.”

The sober living home owner, who has run Diana’s House Sober Living since October 2024, recognizes that the path to recovery from addiction and trauma is often non-linear.
“This represents a mental health and addiction emergency,” Walters emphasized. “We need additional assistance. We need greater resources for those that are struggling.”
“The recovery process can be messy,” she added.
